Shambling horror or Bone horror???
I have both skills, but I'm wondering which to use? The recharge on shambling horrors is long, but does the jagged horror spawn compensate for a 25 second recharge? (I'm currently level 14 with MM's armor, if that makes a difference) I'm using Bone fiends as my other minions and I don't have a Flesh Golem yet.

bone horrors imo, the jagged horror that spawns is low leveled and dies too fast and like you said, theres a long recharge on shambling

Who cares, it's the fiends that do the actual damage. Whatever is upfront is there to be in the way of things. When you have this in mind, SH seem more attractive.

I use fiends and shambling horrors. I like using jagged horrors for me to virulence them. It's fun.

Of course it isn't worth it =p 25 sec recharge is just too long cause minions come and go fast. You don't need a zoo of different types of minions. 10 Bone fiends will completely wipe out everything. If you have too many melee minions, that can be a prob since they do react pretty slow too attack which means lesss damage of course so I stopped using Bone horrors.
I used to bring Fiends, and also Horrors just to raise somethin while the Fiend spell is rechargin, but I soon realized it's kinda a waste. All you need are Bone Fiends and one of these elites: Aura of the lich, Jagged bones, Flesh golem, Order of undeath. Since you seem to lack an MM elite, I'd go with Horrors, but make sure your Fiends outnumber them

On paper, Shambling Horror is the better skill. You want to be pumping out Bone Fiends as much as possible, and the other minion skill is there for when you need to crank out several minions quickly, when you can't afford a fiend, or when doing cleanup at the end of a fight before going to the next mob. A Shambling Horror and a Bone Horror are the same on paper, and the recharge difference isn't a big deal, so Shambling Horror would just be better - it absorbs more damage from being two minions, triggers Soul Reaping twice, etc.
The problem is that in practice, Shambling and Jagged Horrors are significantly dumber than Bone Horrors. When running between mobs, I'll notice my Shambling Horrors lagging far behind, lingering near the old mobs for several seconds. For a minion that I want to run in, absorb damage and aggro and die, being the last on in by several seconds is completely unacceptable. Hence, I've been using Bone Horrors for backup minions, because they do actually run in and die conveniently. =)
Peace,
-CxE

I have many MM builds, one of which uses fiends only, but my standard N/Mo MM build uses Shambling, Vampiric, Fiends, Golem, BotM, Dark Bond, Heal Area (don't get into a debate about this, my personal preference with the self/minion heal), and Rebirth. While 4 minions may seem excessive, it works perfectly. Vampiric and Shambling have long recharges while Fiend recharges in 5 seconds, so they can cover when Fiend is recharging, but the majority of my minions are still fiends, so they still deal mass damage.

Golem is overrated.
Wow it does high damage...
True but it has a low attack rate.
Fiends and horrors easily match the amount of DPS the Golem dishes out.

Golem is a tank. That's what it is for. It does its job very well and opens up opportunities to have more Fiends.
Can't argue with more Fiends.

When i'm in battel my Golem dies first... always
Don't forget that an ndead has no armor whatsoever and a natural degen...
I rather put up fiends and horrors more frequently than having to rely on 1 Elite animated to cover your ass.
Btw... Jagged bones is a far better way to spend your elite on.

Undead have no armor? Of course they do. Everything has some armor. In fact Golemn has quite some armor.

Shambling's recharge is too high. I'd go horror. Or even better, go minions with jagged bones elite. Energy battery and quick recharge of everything. Plenty of energy for your fiends.

A level 18 Bone Fiend has 440 health and 54 armor against physical damage. By contrast, a level 18 Bone Horror also has 440 health, but has 72 armor and therefore takes 27% less damage than a Bone Fiend against physical damage.
and since gollem is an elite i'm guessing he has a bit more armor or possibly the same

I'd say go bone horror for what you have now. The only kind of build that I feel SH are worth using in is one that revolves around Jagged Bones. But that's about it, and even then it is so so.
